The Anomaly is a psychological sci-fi horror short film about Eva, a satellite researcher who discovers a mysterious anomaly that shouldn't exist. Later that night, she experiences a horrifying encounter with beings she cannot explain.
Traumatized by what happened, Eva turns to a therapist and attempts to reconstruct her memories of the encounter. But as she describes the lights, the beings, and the terrifying experiments performed on her, a much darker truth begins to emerge.
The film explores alien abduction, government conspiracy, human experimentation, trauma, and the terrifying possibility that the truth may be stranger than we imagine.
The Anomaly grew out of writer/director Jason Sherman's longtime fascination with UFOs, UAPs, alien encounters, and government disclosure. The concept explores a disturbing possibility: what if some supposed alien abductions were actually government experiments designed to make victims believe extraterrestrials were responsible?
The film was written from scratch in Final Draft. AI filmmaking tools were then used to visualize the characters, develop storyboards, plan shots, and create the final imagery and video sequences. AI was used as a production tool to realize a story that would normally require considerably more locations, sets, visual effects, actors, crew, time, and budget to produce traditionally.
